Lyrics - songs from the album, HERE...

Just the Way You’re Made

My daughter said, "Daddy, why,
Can't I look and be just like
That pretty girl who lives just down the lane?"
I said, "Well, you feel so perfect in my arms,
Your beautiful smile a good luck charm.
Daughter I love you just the way you're made."

Well I happen to believe it's so
We chose each other long ago.
Call it destiny or call it fate.
So there's no mistake that you are here
Just the way you are, my dear.
Daughter I love you just the way you're made.  I do.

Then came a question from my son,
"Why am I the small and weaker one?
I'm reminded by my friends most every day."
I said, "Well my son one day you'll realize,
Your warm heart makes you giant-size.
Son I love you just the way you're made."

Well I happen to believe it's so
We chose each other long ago.
Call it destiny or call it fate.
So there's no mistake that you are here
Just the way you are, my dear.
Son I love you just the way you're made.  I do.

I love you and all I want is for you to love yourself and others, too - each day I do, I do.

Well my children all I ask of you.
Is to love yourself and others, too.
Free yourself of judgment and of hate.
And if you are blessed to have a home,
Full of children of your own,
Love your children just the way they're made.

Los Sueños

Close your eyes at the top of the hill,
You’re gonna drift away deep in the green, goodnight.

Dream of another time, in the summertime.
Hop on a tiny pony and take a ride

(CHORUS)
Oh, catch the wind and venture to the north
Oh, then sail away south to a farther shore
Oh, but will you take me when you go?
(En Los Sueños!)

Lay you down on the ocean blue,
Let the wind and the water come sing to you, goodnight.

Dream of another time, in the summertime.
Hop on a tiny dolphin and take a dive.

(CHORUS)

Oh now 1, 2, 3, may your slumber come and set you free,
To go where you may go, do what you do.
But when you rise tell everything you dream tonight.
And let me know if I was in them, too.

Dozin’ off in a jungle loft,
A gecko on the wall is whispering “goodnight”.

Dream as you’re looking down on Yelapa town.
Hop on a macaw let it take you for a flight.

(CHORUS)

I said now 1, 2, 3, may your slumber come and set you free,
To go where you may go, do what you do.
When you rise tell everything you dream tonight.
And let me know if I was in them, too.

Close your eyes at the top of the hill,
You’re gonna drift away deep in the green, goodnight.

Here

If the day’s begun, but you can’t get up.

If the worry is there, from you don’t know where.

Anxiety sets in just underneath your skin.

If you start to cry for no reason why,

You can know I am always here.

But it’s all OK to feel this way.

Not the first or last, but this too will pass.

Let the feelings flow that you may let them go.

And embrace your way. Embrace your way.

Embrace your way and give love each day.

And you can know I am always here.

The Penelope Tree

On the rarest night of all the days,
When sun and moon would meet.
Under moon and sun encircled as one,
So appeared the Penelope Tree.

It bore the fruit of the sun and moon,
From the candlelight beneath.
And in the candle’s warm glow of burgundy-yellow,
Penelope could often be seen.

(Chorus)
She sat ‘neath her tree curled up on her feet
And played an ethereal song.
Her voice soft and clear, so the owl came to hear.
And she played ‘til the new light of dawn.
She sang, “leddeleedah, ehdellee, daley-doh.
And she played ‘til the new light of dawn.

When the sun and moon then parted too soon,
So vanished the Penelope Tree.
Yet the faintest glow of burgundy-yellow,
Some say could still be seen.

Then the elders remembered a childhood November
When the moon and the sun came to meet.
A tree midst a glow, of burgundy-yellow,
And a woman sitting beneath.

(Chorus)

So on the rarest night of all the days,
When sun and moon come to meet.
Under moon and sun encircled as one,
You may find the Penelope Tree.

Country Fair Upon Your Hill

Hey I see you lying in your bed, face down.
I rub your short-haired head, tears coming down,
As you're crying about lost 4-legged friends.

Hey I'll help you sleep with a song, oh and,
Maybe an Irish fairytale we probably won't understand.
But we seem to like them, anyway.

(Chorus)
'Cause I'm gonna give you a Country Fair upon your hill.
And I'm gonna love you everyday while I have you still.

Hey I see you both growing up strong, in beauty.
Writing and playing your own songs,
That is when you're not talking on the telephone.
When you're not talking on separate phones.

And you know I remember not long ago, or so it seems.
A young father held you in his arms
And sat the other one on his knee for the first time.  And he said...

(Chorus)

Oh, see me through.  Keep me far from my fear.
Lay me down and raise your three pints of beer.
Stay here and see me through.  Keep me far from my fear.

Hey, I'm hoping that the time is gonna come, someday.
When after you're all grown.
You're all gonna have children of your own.  And you'll say...

(Chorus)

804

The sun is up gonna seize the day,
Fillin’ up my coffee cup, yes and I’m on my way.
Hey I’m gonna go down to the sea with my good friend now.

A little black dog laying on the ground
But when he heard the word “walk” started jumping around
He’s gonna go down to the sea with my best friend now.

All those years we came around.
Searching for, but never found.
Take it in cause it’s here and now.

The sun is setting, we’re out the door,
We gotta head on down to the 804
I’m gonna go down to the sea with my good friend now.

But wait I gotta head back if there’s still time
Gotta fetch two glasses and a bottle of wine
Gonna go down to the sea with my best friend now

All those years we came around.
Searching for, but never found.
Take it in cause it’s here and now.

A cold misty morning and all is well,
We see a row of brown pelicans riding the swell,
I’m gonna go down to the sea with my good friend now.

I got everything I need to keep me warm,
Got my woman wrapped tight within my arms.
And I suppose now that you see you’re my best friend now,
I suppose now that you see you’re my best friend now.

Little Breiana

Little Breiana don’t you cry.
You look so beautiful when you’re sleeping.
But with your eyes open wide,
I’m sure your thinking of bills to pay.
Or how the Seahawks did today.
Or maybe you’re thinking instead,
How you can barely lift your head.

Little Breiana don’t you cry.
You look so peaceful when you’re sleeping.
But with your eyes open wide,
I’m sure your thinking of algebra.
Or about the problems in America.
Or maybe you’re wondering why,
Your diaper is seldom dry.

Little Breiana don’t you cry.
Papa’s going to sing you to sleep.
And as you finally close your eyes.
Did you know I’m thinking of you tonight.
And how I’d stay here til morning light.
So I could be the first one to see,
Your beautiful eyes open for me.

Little Breiana don’t you cry.

Address Unknown

Address unknown, not even a trace of you
Oh what I'd give to see the face of you
I was a fool to stay away from you so long
I should have known there'd come a day when you'd be gone

Address unknown, oh how could I be so blind?
To think that you would never be hard to find?
From the place of your birth to the ends of the earth
I've searched only to find, only to find, address unknown

Address unknown, honey child, I ain't even got a trace of you
You know one thing?
I'd give anything in the world just to see the face of you
I was a fool to stay away from you and everything else so long
I should have been diplomatic and figured that some day
You'd be solid gone

Address unknown, oh how could I be so blind?
Who'd think that you would never be hard to find?
From the place of your birth to the ends of the earth
I've searched only to find, only to find, address unknown

When She Came Through the Door

When she came through the door from out in the rain,
And the wind had given a blush to her face.
Covered my mouth as I nearly asked for her name.
Ann came in and took her back down to the bay.

Dragging a stick in the sand,
She left a trail into the grey.
Matching my footsteps in hers,
I followed that line as she walked away.

Passing by shells and stones set in the sand,
I see empty forms left behind by the ones she now holds in her hand.

Her traces had all washed away,
Turning me round, round in the rain.
Would I have dared to call out,
If I had only known her name?

Never to find and never to see anymore,
On that grey, rainy Oregon day when she came through the door.

Pocket Full of Sand

I know we walked in the sand in Hanapepe,
Watching the sun drop into the sea.
I think we played in the waves at Brennecke’s Beach,
We swam beyond the rocks and you stayed near me.

Because now,

(Chorus)
I got a pocket full of sand
And I have, another pocket full of seashells.
And I've got one more pocket that’s empty
Ready and waiting for tomorrow to fill.

We must have walked in the morning to a waterfall,
A lovely, secluded oasis for two.

I know we swam in the surf in Hanalei,
We laid on the beach and I sang to you

Because now…

(Chorus)

Ships Passing

Two ships passing at the edge of night,
Hoping to find a landing.
Two ships passing in and out of sight
Dream of understanding.

(Chorus)
The ocean waves are breathing life into your soul
The sun and waves is beaming light to make you whole

Two ships faster than the speed of light,
Powered by the healing.
Two souls swimming in the sea of life,
Feeling is believing.

(Chorus)

I wish that I could be the perfect place for you.
I wish the world would be the way we want it to.
The universe will have its way no matter what we do.

Two ships passing at the edge of night,
Hoping to find a landing.
Two ships passing in and out of sight,
Dream of understanding.

(Chorus)

Two ships passing at the edge of night

 Song for Ky

Here in my arms let your worries fade quietly.
Lay your head down, tell your troubles softly to me.

Let me make it alright and love away the blue.
Let me hold you all night and rock you under the moon.

That look in your eyes, there’s sorrow somewhere inside.
Lay your head down, I am here to help turn the tide.

Let me make it alright and love away the blue.
Let me hold you all night and rock you under the moon.

Let me make it alright.

 Pennies in a Fountain

We’ve all been through troubled times for too long,
Tempers grown strong from all that has gone wrong.

All our tears collecting in a pool in which we can see,
Reflections like pennies in a fountain.
We shall soon be lucky.

Our Christmas

Cold December evening come to a hillside home,
With chimney smoke and amber windows shining.
An old black dog will greet you there.
The smell of noble fir is in the air.
The Bells of Dublin chiming.

And all the children gone and grown,
Warm the house once more when they come home,
To be together.

And as the winter settles in,
The threat of evening snow brings on a grin.
The more the better.

(Chorus)
This is Our Christmas and we’re all going to celebrate it.
Just as we have years past. We’ve got many more years to go.
This is Our Christmas and I don’t want no one to take it.
And I know we’ll all be here whether in body or in soul.

(The holly and the ivy, when they are both full grown.
Of all the trees in the wood, the holly bears the crown.)

(Chorus)

We gather all around once more,
To read the story, “T’was the Night Before…”
And we all end up Laughing.
Another log’s put on the fire,
One more toast before we all retire.
The “muddy boot” is flowing.

(Chorus)

Cold December evening come to a hillside home,
With chimney smoke and amber windows shining.
